Hello and welcome.

We are Darin and Eileen Stowe. Like for many folks around the world, the last several months have been surreal and unexpected. For us, life as we knew it took a sharp turn in early 2017 when we moved my 93 year old father in law, Dwane, into our home. We did this in order to keep him safe and care for him as his Alzheimer’s progressed. Little did we know how much he would enrich our lives, he brought the Aloha Spirit with him from Moloka’i and quite literally changed our lives. We will feature him in a separate blog post very soon.

Dwane passed peacefully on June 20, 2020 of natural causes, again more on that later. He was our whole world, after he moved in Darin changed his work responsibilities and I left my career. Dwane was our primary focus and suddenly he was gone. So what to do? We ran away.

On June 22, 2020, we got in our Sprinter van and drove away. We had no plans, no itinerary, no commitment. This became our self-quarantine journey across the northern states of the US and a trip we will never forget. There will be a post solely dedicated to that adventure.

During that wonderful trip we drove over 11 thousand miles, saw a select few family members and while in New York TheRollingStowes name came to be. Darin’s beautiful, talented and brilliant daughter, Willow, came up with the name while we were tossing around ideas for a name to use if we ‘started a blog’.

So there you have it in a nutshell, how 2 crazy (old) kids got the idea for a blog. More to come, stay tuned.
